No better than the rest

The last stop of the day. One more delivery and he could begin the long trek home. On any other day the last stop would fill him with excitement and relief of another day and another job done, but not today. This place was the last thing on his mind before he fell asleep the night before, and the first thing on his mind when he woke up that morning. Southbridge Manor, a small dormitory in what could only loosely be called a town in the middle of nowhere. A residence for those who were not gifted with intellectual health whose families have either passed on wish to forget.  As he approached the driveway he fought to ignore the pleas of his shallow personality that begged him to "keep driving". He pulled in, found a parking spot and put the large cargo van in park. Through the windshield he could see the majority of the residents outside either smoking cigarettes or waiting in line to get a cigarette. He looked over his invoice one last time, pulled his deliveries off the shelf in the back of the van, and headed towards the door. As the door opened he was overwhelmed with the stench of urine and old. As he walked the hallways looking for an authority to unlock the supply closet he passed the multiple reminders to the residents that if they do not follow the rules, they will not get any smokes this week. Where were all the employees? He checked all the rooms where the caretakers could usually be found and they were empty. As he passed by the rooms with four or six bunks in each, occasionally someone would poke their head out to say "hi-ye" or "You're short!" or "Are you the Pepsi man?" He began to get ancy. Any extended period of time in this place would have an adverse effect on his psyche for the rest of the day. The energy in this building was so heavy. Finally someone with keys came along to let him in the closet. This person greeted him with a happy hello and had no qualms about making small talk. He had never met this unusually cheerful man before and after listening to him chatter for a few minutes he discovered that he was a new recruit. It made sense. He hadn't been there long enough, his spirit had yet to be wiped out like the rest of those chosen to care for society's rejects. After he finished his tasks in Southbridge Manor he resisted the urge to run back to his truck, and instead took a normal walking pace. As he pulled out he was relieved to have the day behind him, but still had the hour long drive home to marinate in the experience from his last stop of the day.

What a waste of time

I just finished running through The Steam Vaults. The three bosses dropped four blues and out of the five of us, nobody could put and of the items to good use. Lame. We just let the enchanter take them to disenchant. I got out dps'ed big time by the mage and barely stayed ahead of the shaman. At least I got second. We wiped twice, the first time because the tank got feared into a side creep which couldn't be helped, and second time was against the first boss because we just plain sucked. That one was our fault. I didn't even get any green drops, just about six gold and a couple things to vendor trash. Bleh. Maybe next time? I need to figure out what to do to get attuned for the Black Temple so I don't have to keep doing the same instance over and over again.

I get a kick out of typing things that make no sense.

Please pass the brains...

A friend of mine linked me to this strangely mesmerizing zombie simulator Check it out.

On the topic of zombies, Shaun of the Dead is a decent watch if you can handle British humor. Give it a rent if Music and Lyrics is all rented out.

The only movie I have seen lately is Pirates 3. I use the term "see" rather loosely because unfortunately I broke the rule. I don't know why I broke the rule. The rule is in place for a good reason. The rule is as follows: Don't watch movies at the World Twin Theater. If the movie you want to see is there and not at the mall, that means you drive to Grand Island and watch it in a theater there. I don't know what came over me. I knew it was a big movie, I knew it was three hours long and I went anyway. The World Twin is very old and has never been updated. The seats are worn out and hard, the floors are sticky and the speakers sound so awful you can sometimes hardly hear what is being said. The times that don't fall under the "hardly" category fall under the "can't" category. I have no idea what the actors said during half the movie and I left the theater in physical pain. I am looking forward to seeing it on DVD in my chair on my own HDtv and in 5.1 digital surround sound. It might all be for nothing because I was unable to discern if it was a good movie or not. I thought the first one was pretty good, and the second one was a steaming pile. I guess judgment will be postponed until the DVD release. This summer construction is starting on two 7-plex theaters here in town. Previously we had a total of six screens in town so this is an exciting development. I went several years without breaking the rule, so hopefully this last time really was the last time.

Life goes on...I guess.

So I haven't have a decent post since January. More than six months ago actually. I can't believe it's been more than half a year already since we moved into "town". I have still not adjusted. I hate this tiny apartment, I hate having to sell my truck, and I hate having no dogs. My job is tolerable. The work is tolerable, but I love the hours. Being home between 12:00 and 1:00 every day is really nice. I should get myself a second job in the afternoons, but I am seriously lacking in the ambition department at the moment. I did look into a couple associates degree programs at the local community college this week and am considering taking some classes this fall. I'm still playing Warhammer and video games when I get the chance, but so often it feels like I am playing games because it's "what I like" even though I am not enjoying them all that much. In fact, I have a habit of playing a game the weekend I buy it and then never touching it again and selling it on ebay a couple months later. I got my first dude to level 70 on World of Warcraft on Friday night. Playing that game online with friends and family is kinda cool. I have a Warhammer date with Dustin in a couple hours. I finally broke my losing streak against him a couple weeks ago. I had probably lost 6 or so games in a row to him before that. We had a little poker game last night and I came out as the big winner. That only happened because Mark moved to Lincoln so he wasn't there to take all of our money. Our friends and family have put the begging us to move to X location on overdrive lately. They tell us since I "quit" the turkeys and since my family moved to Minnesota there is no reason for us to be here anymore. Maybe they have a point. But why move? I don't know, there is that whole ambition problem... Steph's sister said we should at least move to Minnesota since my family is there because then we would at least have a reason to be there. She hates that we are way out here in the middle of nowhere not living near either of our families. She's probably right. I been sick for almost two weeks now. I only felt miserable for a few days, but I can't quit coughing up stuff and my head is constantly draining stuff. I really wish this would go away because I've had a headache ever since I first started feeling sick.

It's really weird not thinking and worrying about work all the time. I don't know what to do with myself when I get home. It's like I don't know what I want to do. Is this what normal life is like? Just going through the motions every day?
